How Jagdeep Become Soorma Bhopali?

In an interview, he told the story of Jagdeep becoming 'Surma Bhopali', which was very interesting. He had told that when he was working as a comedian in Salim and Javed's film Sarhadi Lootera, his dialogues were quite big and he reached out to Salim about this.

He told Salim that my dialogues are very big, so he said go and tell Javed. Then he reached Javed and Javed shortened his dialogue. Jagdeep was very impressed with this work of Javed and he said, amazing man, you are a very good writer.

After this Jagdeep and Javed were sitting together one evening. Tales, stories and poets were going on, when Javed said - 'kya jaane, kidhar kahaan-kahaan se aa jaate hain.' So Jagdeep said what is this and where did you get it from. On this Javed said that this is the tone of Bhopal.

Jagdeep asked who is from Bhopal here? I did not hear this line from anyone, so Javed said that this is the tone of the women of Bhopal, they speak in this tone. On this Jagdeep asked Javed to teach me this language.

20 years later, the shooting of the film 'Sholay' was going on and then Jagdeep got a call from Ramesh Sippy that he had a role in this film and then started the series of 'Soorma Bhopali', and people got Jagdeep in their Less than real name and more than 'Soorma Bhopali' name. In a way, Jagdeep not only made his mark with this character but also made the city of Bhopal famous with this character.
